Thursday: Board Elections!

Ya voté, CC-BY-NC-SA by Gerry Brague

Another year, another chance to enact a coup d'etat and unseat your Fearless Leaders! This Thursday, HeatSync Labs will be holding its annual board elections. Members are invited to take part in the mailing list thread for the election and be at our glorious space to vote! While we are membership driven, our board works towards meeting our Non-Profit goals as well as handling the dirty parts that no one actually likes, like paying bills and putting out literal and figurative fires. However, they also get to party with the likes of Downtown Mesa and the rest of the valley, working to make our space even more awesome.
Whether you want our space to become a group of crypto-anarchists, or a Respectable Non-Profit, or have even crazier dreams, make your voice heard and help steer this organisation in the direction you, our membership, want to see it go!

Hot Topics Presentations at HeatSync Labs

Hey Arizona, what are you making? This Thursday, HeatSync Labs is giving the community aplatform to show off those projects in our first Hot Topics night!

Whether you are looking to show off something that's already been done, or looking for a chance to get excited people interested in your next greatest idea, come by this Thursday at 7pm! If you are interested in presenting your project, please email ry@n.rix.si ahead of time so that we can do some scheduling.

UPDATE:

Electronic Music Night

The Electronic music scene shares a lot in common with the hackerspace scene; people playing with and sharing circuits that do awesome things. After a live performance at our One Year Anniversary Mustache Party, we are welcoming back Thru the Wires to HeatSync Labs for a presentation on the art of circuit bending and electronic music!

Whether you've dinked around with your own circuit bending patches, or you've never touched a synth in your life, Menagam and Dim will be showing off their art and how they made it this Thursday. Mengam writes:

I will be using a self made patch (MaxMSP) to manipulate my waves with a
random assortments of goodies, which will then manipulate video to the
tempo. The patch will be using max and jitter to create an audio/visual
image.

And Dim will be showing off how to use CMOS in your electronic music setups.

If you've ever had more than a passing fancy at doing your best Bit Shifter impression or just enjoy making loud scratching sounds, or even if you just want to sit back and learn how the pros do it, make sure you're at HeatSync Labs this Thursday at 7:00pm! If you're lucky there will even be some live demos by Dim and Menagam!

All HeatSync Labs meetings are open to the public for free;  Cover charges are for Scottsdale night clubs!  If you really want to give us money though, t-shirts, membership and sponsorship subscriptions will be available and hustled aggressively by our volunteers.

Danny, from Downtown Mesa's very own Rusted Nail Gallery will be giving an overview of the art of resin casting. Whether you are looking for a way to create that little doo-dad for your next project, or a full sized replica of Bre Pettis's head, resin making provides an interesting solution to your problems, and Danny will be giving an overview of the mold making and casting process.

Resin casting provides hobbyists with an easy and cheap solution for model making, compared to large-scale solutions like injection molding. Stop by this Thursday at 7:00 pm to learn the art of mold making from one of our local artists!
