December Call for Presentations
We're looking for presentations for our December 3rd and 17th meetings. Zach.G and David.H will each be presenting on the 3rd on their separate adventures in Portland at the Super Computing 2009 conference and Dorkbot PDX meeting, but we'd like to see more presentations added to the mix. If you have a tech/craft related conference you'd like to show-and-tell, or just have a cool project you'd like to show off, drop a line to jacob{at}heatsynclabs.com or uberschnitzel{at}heatsynclabs.org.
Both of December's meetings will take place at the F.O.P. Lodge in Mesa at 8:00 pm|az.
HSL Blog Call for AZ Projects
In the coming weeks, we'll be changing up the format of the HeatSync Labs website to include a blog to show off local maker talent, in a similar format to the Make Blog. If you're making (or better yet, have already made) anything cool or interesting, or know someone who is, let me know at huertanix{at}heatsynclabs.org so we can publish it to the site and make you internet-famous!
Tell Us What We Are Worth To You
We're conducting a survey to help us get a better idea what sort of budget we'll be working with when we hunt around for potential spaces. In order to do this, we need to find out what you can realistically afford every month, and what you expect to see funds used towards. The survey is short, won't ask for identifying information, and will help us a lot, so please take a couple of minutes to fill it out.
Website Extreme Makeover Meeting!
Heatsync Labs's website is sufficiently geek, but can it also be chic? Heatsync Labs's board nominees will convene this Saturday, November 14th, 3:00 pm at Cartel Coffee Lab to find out. If you're a creative type bursting with website ideas that won't make us look like a Geocities museum, you're invited to come along and share a perfectly-brewed latte with us and voice your thoughts on how to bring up heatsynclabs.org to web 2 point OVER 9000!
Slightly inaccurate* directions to Cartel Coffee Lab.
* Go a bit further south on Ash, Cartel is adjacent to Ash Avenue Comics.
Nominations for Board of Directors Now Open
Now that we're a fancy official nonprofit as recognized by the State of Arizona, we are taking the next step in putting together a fancy official Board of Directors to govern HeatSync Labs fancifully, with fancy Macs. If you'd like to be on the first board of Arizona's first hackerspace, we are taking nominations for each of the positions, which are:
- Champion(s)
- Treasurer
- Marketing Cheerleader
- Editor
- Secretary
- IT Director(s)
If this sort of unpaid volunteer glory is appealing to you and you have a Mac, check out our wiki and nominate yourself.
